What happens if I cannot attend an appointment?
Appointments that are not canceled on time, known as “no-shows,” are not reimbursed by the health insurance company. You can cancel your appointment up to 48 hours in advance.
Failure to cancel on time will result in a maximum charge of €90. This, of course, does not apply in the case of very serious circumstances, such as the death of a close family member, or sudden hospitalization.
Can I choose my own therapist?
It is important that the client feels comfortable with the therapist. If the client has a preference for a specific therapist we will accommodate this request to the extent possible. However, it may happen that for substantive or practical reasons another therapist is chosen, which better suits the client’s request for help.
How do I know how much my health insurance company will reimburse?
Ithaca is a small-scale institution . We are a partially contract-free institution and have signed a contract with Zorg en Zekerheid as of January 1, 2026 and with Menzis from 01-04-2026.
Your treatment at Ithaca is eligible for partial reimbursement, depending on your health insurance company and policy.

What to do in the event of an out-of-hours crisis?

What if I am not satisfied with the treatment or therapist?
There may be situations where you are not satisfied with your treatment or your practitioner. We believe it is important to discuss this with you and always try to resolve the matter together first. You can discuss your dissatisfaction or complaint with your practitioner or contact our in-house complaints officer via klachtenfunctionaris@psychotherapieamstelveen.nl.
We are committed to providing you with the best possible care and treatment. However, if you are still not satisfied, you can also submit your enquiry or complaint to the independent Healthcare Complaints Bureau (Klachtenloket Zorg). A member of staff at the Healthcare Complaints Bureau can provide you with information and advice and, if necessary, put you in touch with an independent complaints officer. This officer can mediate between you and our practice so that we can still reach a suitable solution together.

In addition, you may submit a complaint to the external and independent General Healthcare Disputes Committee. In that case, your complaint will be treated as a dispute. An impartial and expert committee will assess the dispute and issue a binding ruling. This means that both you and we must comply with this ruling and that no further appeal against the ruling is possible.

Can I also Skype with my therapist?
A Skype appointment is possible. For example, if you are going abroad for a certain period of time, you may choose to have the appointments continue via Skype. However, you will always need to consult with your therapist about this first. Moreover, we do not offer Skype appointments without first meeting you within the practice. This is to ensure that a pleasant relationship can be established between you and your therapist though.

The practice is open Monday through Friday. In consultation with the therapist, it is also possible to receive therapy in the evening hours.
The practice is accessible to the disabled, by means of a chair elevator.
Near the practice in Amstelveen there is a blue zone where you can park for free for up to 2 hours. This is indicated by signs and blue stripes on the road.
